Mara Viksnins Artist Statement- 2013

One of the most enigmatic aspects of the creative process is the question of where do images come from? Do they come from an experience or from the unconscious mind? How does the artist interpret these new visual worlds?

Mara Viksnins is ultimately obsessed with the figure. "No matter how I start a painting, whether it be with just random brush strokes and colors or with a more realistic intent, a figure appears! I love to portray the female figure, sometimes in a mystical setting, sometimes as a nurturer or mother nature or just as an ordinary

human being."

Mara Viksnins has an Art Degree from the University

of West Florida and has studied with many prominent artists nationwide. She belongs to Blue Morning Gallery and Quayside Art Gallery in Pensacola, Fl. She recently received Best of Show @ Artel Gallery, Pensacola, Fl. for her work called "Family Dynamics". In 2012 she won Best of Show @ NW Florida College Juried exhibition-
